Work Experiences

In the University:
As the head of the Intelligent Informatics lab, I have to plan the direction of research for the laboratory and pursue the same with the help of other staff members and senior students in the lab. I am/was also involved in various committees including the planning of the grad school and its curriculum, head of the grad-school academic affairs committee etc. During last 14 years, I moved to three different universities, worked in different labs and taught different subjects.

In Telecommunication Industry:
During 1981-1989 I worked in the Department of Telecommunication, Government of India. Initially I worked on both switching and communication systems. Subsequently I specialized in SPC ESS (Stored Program Controlled Electronic Switching Systems). I also developed a comprehensive subscriber information base for a region of the Calcutta metropolitan telephone network. I also gained experience as Divisional Manager for metropolitan switching system planning for PSTN (Calcutta Telephones).

During Ph.D and M.Tech.:
During Ph.D. I wrote extensive simulation programs for different types of artificial neural networks. During M.Tech. I wrote a Translator Writing System
which would generate the compiler of any HLL from its BNF grammar and tokens. I also wrote a Basic interpreter in Fortran.
